Abstract

Le politiche di gestione dei rifiuti che negli ultimi venti anni hanno cercato di mitigare l’impatto ambientale si sono tradotte, nel maggior parte dei casi, in azioni di downcycling. Ecco, quindi, che per rimediare agli impatti dell’andamento lineare dei modelli di produzione e consumo, strategie quali l’upcycling e la transizione verso la circolarità costituiscono una buona soluzione; ma per ridurre la pressione sull’ambiente l’unica strada percorribile non è quella che passa dal riciclaggio quanto, piuttosto, quella del riuso e della non produzione di scarti e rifiuti. In questo senso, anche se ancora sono pochi gli strumenti decisionali specifici a supporto di un’efficace valutazione dei rifiuti in fase progettuale, un ruolo fondamentale è interpretato dai progettisti che, attraverso strategie quali quelle del Design for Longevity e del Design for Deconstruction, possono concorrere alla definizione e all’applicazione di una Zero Waste Strategy.

Adolfo F. L. Baratta, Università degli Studi Roma Tre (Italia)

Architetto, PhD, è Professore Associato in Tecnologia dell’Architettura. Docente presso l’Università degli Studi di Firenze e la ‘Sapienza’ Università di Roma, è stato Visiting Professor presso l’Universidad de Boyacà di Sogamoso (Colombia) e l’HTWG di Konstanz (Germania). Si occupa di tecnologie visibili e invisibili ed è autore di oltre 200 pubblicazioni. Dal 2020 è esperto della Struttura Tecnica di Missione del Ministero delle Infrastrutture e della Mobilità Sostenibili.
