Abstract

Le conseguenze del cambiamento climatico e le ricorrenti carestie di risorse vitali producono un’estrema e crescente fragilità di tutti i sistemi, sia biologici che tecnici, sottoposti a continue e sempre meno prevedibili perturbazioni. In questa prospettiva, la strategia che pretende di mantenere l’equilibrio statico a qualunque costo si rivela inefficace. Perciò oggi si guarda con attenzione all’approccio adattivo, basato su reattività, capacità di auto-riparazione di singole parti e tolleranza ai guasti, che da sempre consente agli organismi viventi di sopravvivere in contesti ostili. Questa attitudine dei sistemi biologici ad adottare risposte dinamiche alle azioni perturbative del loro equilibrio si rivela straordinariamente efficace e intrinsecamente efficiente, al punto da proporsi come un paradigma a cui ispirarsi per organizzare il funzionamento anche dei sistemi artificiali.

Ernesto Antonini, Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna

Architetto PhD, è Professore Ordinario presso il Dipartimento di Architettura. Come Ricercatore e poi come Responsabile ha partecipato a programmi di ricerca e sperimentazione nazionali ed europei sui temi dell’informazione tecnica e dell’innovazione in edilizia, occupandosi in particolare di tecnologie, processi, macchine da cantiere e, più recentemente, di valutazione della sostenibilità di edifici, componenti e materiali da costruzione.
