Abstract

In un contesto di emergenza ambientale per il quale il settore edile è uno dei principali responsabili, in quanto consuma il 40% dell’energia (incorporata e operativa) e produce circa un terzo dei rifiuti totali prodotti, e in ragione degli obiettivi ambiziosi fissati dalla comunità internazionale e da numerosi Paesi per ridurre l’impatto ambientale delle costruzioni durante l’intero ciclo vita, il presente articolo intende offrire un contributo alla conoscenza dello stato dell’arte su attività di ricerca, sperimentazioni e buone pratiche sostenibili che il settore delle costruzioni e l’accademia hanno attivato negli ultimi anni. In particolare, riferisce di azioni teoriche e sperimentali di impronta circolare che interessano innovazioni di processo e di prodotto alle diverse scale (‘macro’, ‘meso’ e ‘micro’) dell’ambiente costruito capaci di superare il tradizionale approccio lineare in luogo di un approccio che mira, da un lato, a estendere il suo ciclo di vita utile, dall’altro, a valutare nuovi materiali bio-based facilmente rigenerabili e con una bassa energia incorporata; conclude infine mettendo in luce le criticità che ad oggi ne frenano la diffusione e individua possibili azioni di ricerca che possano favorire, con il contributo della Tecnologia dell’Architettura, la transizione verso questo nuovo paradigma.

Architetto e PhD, è Professore Associato presso il Dipartimento di Architettura. I suoi principali interessi di ricerca vertono sulla sostenibilità ambientale, sui materiali innovativi per l’architettura, sui nanomateriali, sul risparmio energetico degli edifici e sul processo conservativo con particolare attenzione ai sistemi di protezione per i siti archeologici.
