This paper reports the results of a research project carried out by a group of professors and PhD researchers from the Departments of Architecture and Engineering at the University of Roma Tre aimed at the rehabilitation of the Refrigerator pavilion contained within the former Mattatoio of Testaccio complex in Rome. The project, which involved the realization of a 98-bed student residence, collective services, and spaces for culture, occupies a middle ground between the conservational restoration of the existing volume and the proposition of interesting distributional, architectural, and spatial solutions necessary for the insertion of the new functions within it.
