Riciclo idrico e raffrescamento urbano – Un nuovo paradigma metabolico Acqua / Energia / Cibo per le città temperate

Abstract

Le città producono flussi termici e idrici di entità tale che, se opportunamente direzionati, possono diventare strumento di resilienza climatica e giustizia ambientale. Da qui la tesi che gli insediamenti urbani possano trasformarsi in ‘nodi di raffreddamento’ di una rete planetaria, mitigando le isole di calore e attenuandone, per somma, gli effetti su scala regionale. In tale ottica il contributo esplora le sinergie fra i cicli di acqua, energia e cibo attraverso il dispositivo concettuale delle 4R – Ridurre, Riutilizzare, Recuperare, Rigenerare – e mostra come corridoi verdi, corpi idrici diffusi, tetti con micro-fitodepurazione e coltivazioni aeroponiche agiscano da organi traspiranti di raffrescamento che assorbono calore latente, offrono ombra, producono cibo e alimentano senso di comunità. Tra le diverse scale si individua come strategica quella del quartiere, che assume la configurazione di organismo omeotermico e Living Lab: reti di sensori, gemelli digitali e incentivi trasformano metriche ambientali in relazioni sociali, spostando l’attenzione dal costo della risorsa al valore degli scambi ecologici. A supporto viene presentata una matrice 4R-SDG concepita come strumento evolutivo per valutare i compromessi fra decarbonizzazione, biodiversità, equità e coinvolgimento degli utenti, orientando politiche adattive capaci di convertire rischio e scarto in capitale rigenerativo. Ne emerge l’immagine di una città temperata che produce nuovi scenari di convivenza in un orizzonte a neutralità carbonica.

Architetto e PhD, è Professore Associato di Progettazione Tecnologica e Ambientale dell’Architettura presso il Dipartimento di Architettura (Italia). Co-Direttore della rivista Agathón, tra i principali ambiti di ricerca affrontati in chiave sistemica si segnalano le strategie per la mitigazione dei cambiamenti climatici in ambito urbano, la sostenibilità ambientale, sociale ed economica del progetto e i materiali innovativi e sostenibili per l’architettura.

Ingegnere Civile e Architetto, è Direttore dello studio Architekturwerk di Vienna (Austria), dopo aver collaborato per diversi anni con Christopher Alexander presso il Centre for Environmental Structure dell'Università della California, Berkeley (USA). Già Visiting Professor presso la University of Technology di Vienna, è Presidente del Pattern Institute e dirige la Summer Academy for Architecture and Planning a Mauerbach. Il principale campo di indagine riguarda l’integrazione di una vasta gamma di risultati complessi in modelli comprensibili a tutti, da un lato per creare criteri interconnessi come base per la pianificazione, dall’altro per consentire la trasformazione della scienza nell’ambiente costruito.
