Abstract

L’architettura può essere un riflesso tangibile di eventi contemporanei significativi, offrendo un’idea di come gli architetti rispondano alle sfide che si presentano. In particolare, in circostanze estreme che richiedono interventi rapidi, come ad esempio l’improvviso aumento della domanda di alloggi dopo un disastro, la modularità risulta funzionale per il suo potenziale di razionalizzazione e scalabilità. L’articolo esplora come il modulo – inteso sia come idea progettuale che come metodo costruttivo – può offrire risposte immediate per accogliere grandi gruppi di persone in momenti di improvvise migrazioni di massa, discute le criticità e i limiti della modularità, come durata o materialità, riflette criticamente sui moduli abitativi standardizzati e si interroga sulla mancanza di politiche adeguate in presenza della pressante necessità di aumentare il numero di alloggi permanenti.

Yona Catrina Schreyer, Politecnico di Milano (Italia)

Dottoranda presso il Dipartimento di Architettura e Studi Urbani. Ha studiato architettura a Monaco di Baviera, Milano e Ahmedabad e ha insegnato e svolto attività di ricerca presso diverse Istituzioni internazionali come l’Università di Arti Applicate di Vienna, l’Università Tecnica di Monaco di Baviera e lo Human Settlement Programme delle Nazioni Unite a New York. La sua ricerca indaga sul rapporto tra politiche e progettazione dell’ambiente costruito e in particolare sul ruolo degli architetti nell’affrontare tipologie legate agli spostamenti di massa influenzate con gli strumenti della digitalizzazione.
